The first study of campus buildings in almost forty years, this book offers a short account of campus developments behind building projects, the ideas and architects involved, and the people within the university who were prime movers in getting buildings built. These buildings, which established the basic form of the campus as we know it today, are all illustrated and discussed at some length. For the twentieth century, when buildings proliferated over the campus, only selected ones are discussed. All structures built before 1985, however, are listed in the Campus Chronology together with capsule information about each. This new edition contains an addendum, with illustrations, covering select buildings erected since 1985.
